A sustainable energy supply is pivotal for Europe’s economy, the well being of the citizens and the development of our societies. From an ecologic, economic and a social perspective energy future has to be based on available resources and the perseverance of the environment and it has to be achievable and reliable for everybody. Facing this big challenge our research and policy focuses on general issues of energy systems, highlighting the issue of renewable energies, energy efficiency and energy systems in the context of the socio-economic environments and importance such as public acceptance. The road map of such policy is planned on the transition and transformation necessity of the European and other international energy systems. To meet the goals of reducing carbon footprint and maintaining the reliable energy supply to its industry and society is a dual and simultaneous task. Regardless of the different national approaches Europe’s future will need excellent technologies as well as human resources, which are able to speed up innovation pathways. GeoLab aims to contribute in the socio-economic research of energy sustainability and energy systems and to help young scientists to understand the requirements of innovation processes, the needs of successful economic implementation and therefore the thinking in the dimension of entrepreneurship. The end is to strengthen European intellectual and natural potential in order to contribute to the European and possible global energy roadmaps.
